Trips

Hévíz - Cserszegtomaj - Keszthely kertváros - Hévíz

Leaving Hévíz through the protecting forest around the thermal lake passing by the MOL petrol station and Club Hotel Dobogómajor towards Cserszegtomaj . (Be careful, that road is a main road.) After crossing the road keep straight on Bikedi lane uphill leading you next to the Margit Look-out Tower. The Tower awaits its visitors from May till September. Enjoy the picturesque view of Lake Balaton and the Keszthely hills around. Following Bikedi lane the next site will be a chapel, next to which there is a unique cave, which can only be visited with guide.

From the chapel take the road towards Keszthely-Kertváros which leads to Keszthely. Before the "Keszthely" sign take the bicycle route leading through the forest to Hévíz .

Distance: 8 miles

Hévíz - Cserszegtomaj - Rezi - Hévíz

Passing by the chapel walk towards the Castle Theatre (follow the sings). Alternatively you can visit the Castle ruins of Rezi, the nearby village 3 km-es away. If you take the steep, shadowy path up to the ruins you will be compensated for your effort by a marvellous view.

You can take the same route back to Hévíz.

Those looking for a bit more challange, can take the road towards Keszthely and from there the bicycle route (see trip 1.) leading through the forest to Hévíz.

Hévíz - Keszthely - Gyenesdiás - Hévíz

Start the trip on the bicycle route connecting Hévíz with Keszthely. As you walk through the town there is a large number of sights worth visiting: the Festetics Palace, the town's main square, Balaton Museum, Helikon park etc. Bike towards the railway station of Keszthely and you will find the bicycle route leading to the next village, that is to Gyenesdiás. Reaching Gyenesdiás take one of the roads leading to the centre. Historic monuments of the village are the Classicist Szent Ilona chapel built in 1826 and a few wine cellars built in the 13th century. There is a large field for having a picnic. Take the same road back to Hévíz.

Hévíz - Alsópáhok - Sármellék - Zalavár/ Small-Balaton - Hévíz

Leave Hévíz on Ady Endre street towards Alsópáhok (nearby village) and visit its church. Turn on your left, bike through Alsópáhok, take the main road 75 towards Sármellék . Passing by the international Fly Balaton Airport, leaving the village and passing by Zalavár you will soon reach the Kányavári island and Little Balaton . Here there is a marvellous wooden bridge and there will be a chance for bird watching in the nature protection area. Take the same road back to Hévíz.
